Of Purush and Prakruti

I have always been in awe of the Ardhanarishwar image. The unity of Purush and Prakriti, of Shiv and Shakti, of the masculine and feminine, to me, is one of the most powerful representation of divinity. The bhaav it creates can’t be done justice by words, but I try 🙂 )

He is the Prerna, She Samarthya
She sets the Taal of his cosmic nritya
He inspires, she makes it happen
In spite of his vairagya, she gets him to nurture and sustain

She be Amba, Durga, MahaKali
He be Rudra, Shiva, Chandra Mouli
In His fury, her ferocity; In Her affection, his serenity
In complete acceptance, they stand, of their essence and personality

Not that he is feeble
Not that she needs a hand
Not that one is incomplete
Not that individually they can’t withstand

Not complete, rather complement
Each other’s essence, they enhance and augment
A Sanyasi becomes Shankar, and a Sati Shakti
Can there ever be a parallel to this romance of Purush and Prakruti?

(Disclaimer: Poetic liberties taken for bringing divine to human plane :))
